What to Expect During Your Corvallis Oregon In-Home Photography Session

My focus is on capturing the real emotions and interactions that happen between family members. Here’s what you can expect during your in-home newborn or family session:

I’ll also provide guidance on outfit coordination to help ensure the session runs smoothly.

During the Session: Your session will be relaxed and unhurried, giving you time to tend to your baby, feed, and take breaks as needed. I’ll use the natural light in your home and the cozy settings around you to create authentic and intimate images that showcase your family’s unique bond. The session should feel like you’re having a friend over who loves hanging with your kids.

SEAL ROCK OREGON: Family Photographer

Seal Rock: A Hidden Gem, One of My Favorite Family Photoshoot Locations

Seal Rock, located just a short 15-minute drive south of Newport, Oregon, is one of my favorite spots for family photoshoots. Though it may not be as iconic as Haystack Rock in Pacific City, Seal Rock is a true hidden-in-plain-sight gem—one of those places that feels like stepping into another world.

What makes Seal Rock stand out to me is the unique combination of features: striking rock formations, a rugged coastline, tide pools, and easy access. Every corner of this beach is brimming with character, providing endless opportunities for stunning photos. The best time to visit is during low tide, and I especially love mornings here. There’s something magical about the way the soft morning light spills over the trees and onto the sand, casting a gentle glow over the sea. Everything feels crisp and timeless in the early hours, making it the perfect time to create beautiful, natural images.

So, if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Seal Rock—and don’t just stay in your car viewing it from the road! The true magic of this spot is felt when you step down onto the sand, with your feet immersed at the water’s edge. Whether you’re visiting for a photo session or just to experience the beauty of the coast, Seal Rock is a spot that never fails to inspire.

After your photoshoot with me, head over to Luna Sea for the perfect meal to end your day! This cozy restaurant Luna Sea Fish House is just a minute away and offers delicious, locally sourced dishes—making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring and capturing memories.

If you’d like to learn more about Seal Rock and plan your own visit, here’s a link to more information on this stunning location: Seal Rock State Recreation Site.

Philomath OREGON: Wedding Photographer

A Whimsical Wedding at the Family Pond in Philomath, OR
Saturday, June 29th, 2024

Allison and Jake’s wedding was the perfect blend of whimsy, nature, and celebration. Soft pastels, delicate florals, flowing tablescapes, dainty umbrellas, and a mix of ladybugs and dragonflies in shades of blues and greens created a scene that felt like it was pulled straight from a Monet painting. This beauty was set against the tranquil backdrop of Jake’s family property in the woods of Philomath, Oregon, filling the day with pure magic.

The day began with a private vow exchange on a special hill on the property. From there, the ceremony unfolded in front of a stunning pond, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Guests were shuttled through the enchanted forest on a charming school bus, adding a nostalgic touch to the experience. They were then treated to glamping accommodations provided by Cascade Glamping (link), where they enjoyed an unforgettable evening under the stars, roasting hot dogs and s’mores by the fire and dancing the night away.

Meghan Dilba of Sideways & Co. (link) worked tirelessly to bring the couple’s romantic, whimsical vision to life, ensuring every detail was thoughtfully executed and perfectly timed.

Vendors who made this wedding possible:

Beazell Memorial Forest: Eco-Friendly Wedding

BEAZELL MEMORIAL FOREST: An Eco-Friendly Wedding

Kristi and Colton: Nature lovers, yoga enthusiasts, and all-around super awesome humans—tied the knot in the heart of  Beazell Memorial Forest.

Located just outside of Corvallis, Oregon, off Kings Valley Highway, Beazell Memorial Forest is the perfect location for couples seeking a peaceful, nature-filled wedding day. This venue is perfect for couples who want to feel far from the city while still being conveniently close to town! One of the best things about Beazell is its minimalist versatility. The forest offers many unique options for structuring your wedding day, making it a fantastic spot for couples who want to center their day in nature.

For Kristi and Colton, this venue was a perfect fit. As nature lovers and frequent hikers in the Pacific Northwest, they couldn’t have chosen a more fitting place for their ceremony. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows under the grand oak tree. The soft light filtering through the branches created a whimsical, almost fairytale-like atmosphere, enhancing the already stunning natural surroundings.

The reception was just as thoughtful and memorable. Held in a cozy barn, it featured a small dance floor at the center that grew as the night went on, filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt celebrations. Kristi’s attention to detail and love for the planet shone through with her decision to pick her own bouquet and thrift glassware for each guest, creating unique and eco-friendly touches that minimized waste.

I felt incredibly honored to capture this day for Kristi and Colton— wonderful people who exude warmth, kindness, and a deep love for each other and the planet. I officially met Kristi & Colton at Willamette Valley Power Yoga in Corvallis (Willamette Valley Power Yoga), a hot yoga studio that leaves you feeling like you’re walking on air after every class. I knew from the minute Kristi and I chatted after yoga about their wedding day, that it was something I was going to love being a part of.

Their wedding day was a beautiful fusion of their love for nature, their mindfulness, and the start of their new journey together. The combination of the forest’s natural beauty, the overcast skies, and the love shared between the couple made for a day that was intimate, personal, and unforgettable. It was a celebration full of heart and connection, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.

Kristi also owns her own business, Sundew & Saffron, where she crafts small batches of tinctures, oils, and herbal blends—locally sourced and harvested by hand. If you're looking for your new favorite facial toner, you can find it here!

Eco-Friendly Wedding at Irving Street Studio in Portland, OR
October 6th, 2023

Sara and Sean’s wedding took place at the eco-conscious Irving Street Studio in Portland, OR—a venue known for its industrial charm and commitment to sustainability. The venue’s unique blend of modern architecture and environmental mindfulness perfectly matched the couple’s values and vision for their big day.

Sara got ready at a charming Old Portland rental home just a few miles from the venue, while Sean prepped in a high-rise studio. With creative freedom to choose the first look location, I discovered a hidden gem just a few blocks away—a park with a striking undulating steel fence. The vibrant fall foliage and peaceful surroundings made it the perfect spot for an intimate first look and a quiet moment before the ceremony.

The ceremony, officiated by Sara’s mentor, was short, sweet, and surrounded by the lush floral design by Colibri PDX, which complemented and elevated the natural beauty of the venue's industrial brick.

For a fun twist on tradition, Sara and Sean opted to share a heart-shaped churro, provided by Churros Locos, instead of a traditional cake cutting. The sweet treat perfectly matched their laid-back vibe and added a personal touch.

The evening ended with an epic dance party, where their friend Matson the DJ played all their favorite songs, filling the dance floor with energy and joy.

Nina and Jason celebrated their love with an intimate, beautiful backyard wedding in downtown Corvallis. Surrounded by family and friends, their day was filled with warmth, love, and laughter.

Held on a family friend’s property, the small yard and garden provided the perfect backdrop for a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Every detail was carefully planned and executed, with coordination led by Emili (@beyondtheveil_events), Elegant Outcomes (Elegant Outcomes on The Knot). The lush garden setting complemented the couple’s vision for a simple yet elegant celebration. The bride, Nina, looked absolutely stunning with makeup and hairstyling by the lovely ladies from Adore Salon.

A buffet-style dinner was provided by Forks and Corks Catering, and guests were treated to the unique addition of refreshing ice cream from Sugar J’s Ice Cream Workshop for dessert. The beautiful florals, from Raising Joy Farm, added a fresh and natural touch to the overall aesthetic, while the chic rentals from Special Occasions and For The Love of Peter Rentals helped bring their dream wedding to life.

The evening's festivities were set to the perfect soundtrack, thanks to the incredible DJ @SmileDJs, who kept the dance floor lively and fun. Once the music cut off, the wedding party kept the party going—heading down to the top of the cock, a Corvallis icon, also known as The Peacock.

Modern & Chic Wedding at Union Pine in Portland, OR

Modern & Chic Wedding at Union Pine in Portland, OR
October 10th, 2022

Sara & Victor held their wedding at the stylish and intimate venue, Union Pine (Union Pine), in Portland, Oregon. The space, with its exposed brick and industrial charm, offered an urban yet cozy feel that paired perfectly with the couple’s modern city wedding vision.

By October, Oregon's weather is typically cooler, and I’m usually prepared with waterproof boots and a jacket. But this October wedding was blessed with record-breaking heat, adding a pleasant twist to the celebration.

Florals by Novella Theory (Novella Theory) transformed the venue with stunning, thoughtfully arranged blooms, adding soft elegance to the bold, industrial vibe of the venue. Each arrangement was meticulously crafted, creating a perfect balance of sophistication and freshness.

The atmosphere was elevated with music curated by DJ Casey (DJ Casey), who I couldn't recommend enough. Casey kept the energy high all night long and perfectly executed his playlist to fit the vibe on the dance floor.

Vendors:

This wedding was a seamless blend of modern elegance and industrial charm—an unforgettable celebration that left a lasting impression on all who attended!

Newport Oregon Photographer: South beach couples session

June 2022

South beach in Newport, OR is one of my favorite locations for a couples session. There is tall beach grass, jetty rocks, a view of the bridge. My brother knew a guy who got flung off his surf board by a great white shark here, but don’t worry, you likely won’t be swimming in the deep shark water during our session!

South Beach in Newport, Oregon, is one of my absolute favorite spots for a beach session! The beach grass adds such a beautiful touch to the photos and brings an extra bit of zest to every shot. Plus, the dunes often offer some protection from the wind, which is always a nice bonus.

After we've explored the dunes, I love moving down to the water's edge for a completely different vibe. The soft waves and changing light create a totally unique scene and a fresh backdrop for any session.

If you're looking for a great place to grab a bite after your session, you can't go wrong with Local Ocean—it's home to some of the best seafood around! Another Newport classic I recommend is Rogue, located in South Beach. It’s a great brewery with a relaxed vibe to unwind after your shoot.

Alsea Oregon is nestled in Oregon Coast range on hwy 34 between Corvallis OR & Waldport OR. Highway 34 follows the beautiful Alsea River from the Willamette valley to the Oregon Coast, its a windy road but totally worth the beauty of the drive if you ever find yourself traveling between the Willamette Valley & the Oregon Coast.

This Alsea Oregon backyard wedding was magical. Every detail of this backyard wedding was well thought out and beautifully crafted.

We started the day inside their home, popping Champagne & reading love notes. When I left the venue there was a fine mist settling over the valley, the chatting & laughter from the dance floor echoed through the night - it was magical.

Cannon Beach Family Photography

Cannon Beach Family Photography

The Oregon Coast is my favorite place to do family photos & Cannon beach does not disappoint when it comes to Oregon Coast locations. The Parks family came all the way from Utah to relax on the Oregon Coast & I was so stoked to do family photos with them.

Cannon beach is a Northern Oregon Coast town & I highly recommend checking out Pelican Brewing if you’re in the area. Cannon beach is best known for its massive rock feature - Haystack rock, which is a nesting area for tufted puffins & adds a mystical element to photos.

After this family session ended I stayed on the beach for a little while to explore the tadpoles and take in the fresh ocean air. I watched a bald eagle steal a tufted puffin baby off of the top of haystack rock. It was an incredible sight to see & hear. Everyone on the beach turned their heads to this sight, as hundreds of other birds flew off the rock and started flying in a circle around it. The sound of seagulls was so loud & the eagle was easy to spot because it was three times bigger than all of the other birds around.

God's Thumb: Oregon Coast Engagement

God’s Thumb: Oregon Coast Engagement

Pj & Pear

September 2019

I was so excited when Pj & Pear reached out to me about doing their engagement photos, knowing that they were up for an adventure, we decided to hike up God’s Thumb in Lincoln City https://www.explorelincolncity.com on the Oregon Coast. Lincoln City has some amazing beach spots & hikes, God’s thumb ranks very high on my list.

The hike is pretty short and sweet, but it can be very muddy depending on the season you go in. We went in the rainy season but luckily we only got sprinkled on a little bit. There are two trails the shorter one is not technically open to the public, so we took the longer trail to the top. Its about a two mile trip to the top and we giggled the whole way.

A big benefit of going in the off season is that there is less people. In recent years the God’s Thumb hike has become very popular for hikers and photographers alike!
